Helle Nice

Helle Nice (1900 - 1984) was a successful racing driver in the 1920's - 1940's. Previous to that, she came from a very humble background. She was an accomplished and famous stage dancer, but a ski-ing accident put paid to her dancing career, and she took to persuing her other love, of driving cars, competitively. She had an illustrous, successful and insprational racing career, mostly driving Bugattis, which was tragically tainted by a rival male driver accusing her of being a spy for the Gestapo during WW2. Her sponsors, friends, family and lovers deserted her, believing his story rather than hers. Unfortunatately, she never recovered from that, and died in poverty in a squalid, rat-infested flat in the darker regions of Paris.
